The students take notes during the lecture. They usually use the computers that they received from the school.

  1. This is a new thing in Gothenburg - that the students have a lap-top. What would you say are the pedagogical advantages? What does is require from the teacher? Is the pedagogy very different working like this?

  2. I would say that this helps a lot in terms of finding information, helping students that have some difficulties to learn in a "classic way" and the students doesn´t miss so much anymore when the are sick -they can get the information from the teacher online and through drop box etc.
However,i´m a bit concerne about this way as well, to have computers in class disturbes the class a lot as well since the students can get access to facebook, twitter etc. And there is a lot of system failures that takes time from us teachers.
We have to maintain a balance with this new way.

    1. Yes, I have heard that from others, so that's why I asked. There are of course many many possibilities, especially if the teacher is interested in ICT and finding alternative pedagogies.

Do you have discussions with the students on how they shall handle the computors? I know some teachers who work with the students on issues like: How shall I deal with facebook and other social media during class.

  3. I am responsible for a class of 15 students within Tourism & Hospitality and we talk a lot about the Do's & Don´ts of computers and the Internet. The students too, feel that are both advantages and disadvantages with the lap tops. As far as I gather from my students, they think it is hard that the classes we have are very much dependant on the computers. Hence, if you forget your computer at home, you are completely lost for the whole class.

  4. I agree with Malin, to much depends on the computers.
I feel a bit indecisive about how I feel about computers in the classrooms. There are benefits and disadvantages with this.
